Code Anywhere
RapidWeaver allows you to seamlessly swap between rich text editing and html mark-up anywhere in your site. This makes it easy to add Google Maps, adverts, or even code that displays data from a database.
XHTML Structure
RapidWeaver is template based, but that doesn’t mean it’s not flexible. You can dive into theme template files and modify the layout as much as you like. You only need to look at the wealth of third party themes to see how flexible it is!
CSS Based Themes
RapidWeaver Themes use CSS for their styling. This make it incredible easy to modify or create new and more importantly original themes. Take a look at our comprehensive Theme SDK for more detailed information on what is possible.
Snippets
If you find yourself using portions of code regularly, you can store them easily inside RapidWeaver's Snippets window. Once saved, Snippets can simply be dragged into any RapidWeaver text area at a later date.
Code in any Language
RapidWeaver is fluent in virtually every popular coding language. Want to add some custom Javascript or CSS to a page? Need to include a PHP class library before the DOCTYPE? Or maybe even install Google Analytics to keep track of visitors? No problem, RapidWeaver can handle it.
Powered by WebKit
RapidWeaver's previewing is powered by WebKit, the very same standards-compliant engine that's under the hood of Apple's Safari web browser.

PHP Rendering
If you're a PHP guru, you can hand-code your entire site (or even just tiny portions of it) in RapidWeaver, and your PHP will be rendered when you preview the page.
Open File Format. Check.
The RapidWeaver Sandwich file format (.rwsw) is a completely open file format. We call them "RapidWeaver Sandwiches" because it's easy to open them up and see the filling. It's viewable as a bundle in the finder and the files are based around XML.
This allows anyone to add new pages or modify settings outside of RapidWeaver, and more importantly gives third party developers the opportunity to write new and exciting products based around the RapidWeaver sandwich format. File formats have never looked so tasty!
Developers Love RapidWeaver!
RapidWeaver has a Plugin SDK to help Cocoa developers create new and exciting page types. Web developers can take advantage of our Theme SDK to build their own custom themes.
Some examples of what you can create with the Plugin SDK include Blocks, a true WYSIWYG page type and Lockdown, allowing you to password protect pages and areas of your site.
Example of 3rd party Themes and Plugins can be found in the RapidWeaver add-ons section.
RapidWeaver 4.0 is available for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
RapidWeaver 3.6 is available for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger
