Meet The Team

Daniel Counsell Big Chief
Realmac Software
Brighton, England
Dan Counsell, Big Chief

Based in Brighton, England. Dan lives with his wife and baby daughter (who he wasn't allowed to call Apple, despite his best efforts!).

After too many years working in London, Dan finally plucked up the courage to wave goodbye to the bright lights and steady 9-5 job to make Realmac Software a full-time venture.

On the official paperwork Dan is the Director of Realmac Software, but he is more commonly know as the “Big Chief". When he’s not coding in Cocoa or doing graphic design, he can be found making the tea or planning The Next Big Thing!

Ben Counsell Web Guru
Realmac Software
Brighton, England
Ben Counsell, Web Guru

Brought up in a small town just outside Brighton, Ben’s Dad and three older brothers instilled an unhealthy obsession of everything Mac in him from a young age.

He joined the Big Chief full-time at Realmac HQ a few years back when RapidWeaver was just an infant and raised him as one of my own ever since.

When he’s at his Mac he’s taking care of this website, creating RapidWeaver themes and planning awesome new web apps! Away from the Mac you're most likely to find him taking photos, keeping goal for his local football team and sleeping.

Nik Fletcher PR Ninja
Realmac Software
Brighton, England
Nik Fletcher, Support Ninja

After two and a half years as a RapidWeaver user, Nik joined Realmac in October 2007. As well as being the go-to man for PR, marketing and writing the RapidWeaver manual he occasionally dabbles with some XHTML, CSS, or PHP, all the while drinking tea made by the Big Chief.

When not in front of his Mac, be it at the office or writing for Download Squad, Nik is a keen photographer and has also been known to sit down at the piano (music student habits die hard). On top of that, he's a qualified Open Water Scuba Diver.

Aron Carroll Web Guru
Realmac Software
Brighton, England
Aron Carroll, Web Junior

Aron has been working with Realmac Software for almost a year. Educated thoroughly in the world of the internets by Dan and Ben, he now helps build new themes, maintain the various websites and generally tries to make RapidWeaver awesome.

When not assembling websites, Aron enjoys watching the odd band, taking photographs and listening to records. It’s an exciting life here in the big city.

Also he would like to take this opportunity to request that should anyone happen to have a particularly fine recipe for New York cheesecake, he would be much obliged if you could pass it on.

Andre Pang Propellerhead
Realmac Software
Sydney, Australia
Andre Pang, Propellerhead

Born and raised in Sydney and Singapore, Andre fell in love with computers early in life. He was lucky enough to find the underground demoscene and wasted countless hours of his youth on local bulletin boards, experimenting with electronic music, and avoiding the sun.

Andre eventually graduated in Computing Science and Psychology at the University of New South Wales, fiddling with everything from functional programming to user interface design. After moving to the Mac in 2002, he now serves as Realmac Software's chief propellerhead, and loves coding, tennis, Smirnoff Black, and good company at the beach (preferably in a two-piece).

Josh Ferguson Cocoa Robot
Realmac Software
Nebraska, USA
Josh Ferguson, Cocoa Robot

Assembled in Lincoln, Nebraska (with parts Made in the USA), Josh heads the North American branch of Realmac’s engineering team. Part of the team for almost 3 years now, his natural affinity towards Apple computers and well-designed software makes him a perfect fit at Realmac.

Josh loves indie software, writing code, and designing beautiful user interfaces. When not plugged in, he enjoys hanging out with his two mini-robots, Harlie and Peter, making music, cooking, and biking. He also has a weakness for Italian motorcycles and good wine, but he still refuses to wear a two piece for Andre.

Kevin LaCoste Coding Ronin
Realmac Software
Kyoto, Japan
Kevin LaCoste, Coding Ronin

A self-professed Super Mario Junkie during his formative years Kevin has since recovered and learned to control his mushroom related urges. He's worked on projects for Windows, Macintosh and even a few Nintendo consoles all the while keeping a Mac at home for his personal use.

After leaving his job with Nintendo, Kevin bounced around Asia and eventually settled in Kyoto, Japan where he spent all together too much time teaching English. While he really should be making more of an effort to improve his Japanese, these days he spends his free time training in MMA, snowboarding and watching movies.

Danny Greg Cocoa Junior
Realmac Software
Brighton, England
Danny Greg, Cocoa Junior

Danny is the new face around Realmac HQ and spends most of his day in Xcode delving through documentation and source code, squashing bugs and coding new features. He is, after all, the Cocoa Junior.

He joined Realmac after spending almost a year as an indie Mac developer, having developed BitClamp as well as being part of the Latitude browser team and various other, Mac-related, projects. He has been programming since the age of 13, when he wrote his first Excel-based VBA application and started coding for the Mac, once shown the error of his ways, aged 17.
